Se La Vie

Last Sunday was an important day for U.S. troops. According to They New York Times, the Iraqi Cabinet approved a pact to withdraw troops in Iraq by the end of 2011. In fact, it was passed by a 27 to 1 vote (almost unanimous).

Let's think about this for a moment; let's give it some thought. So the American people want their soldiers to leave Iraq and the Iraqi people want American soldiers to leave their country. Then why are we still there?

What good can our soldiers do if they are unwanted? What respect will they gain if they are overstaying their welcome? It's been six years and we are through. We are through fighting this war that can not be won, we are through losing lives and we are through trying to help those who don't want to be helped. So when will it stop?

That's the burning question that has no answer. I think if the people we are trying to help don't want our help than we shouldn't impose. It's not fair to the men and women risking their lives everyday. Their jobs are often overlooked, mainly because they are pushed behind the scenes. There aren't pictures on the news or in the papers that truly depict what they do. And yet they are still over there. American soldiers are the ones who are there everyday faced with the challenge of defending a people who said "no more".

It's time we listen to the people and the people have spoken :))
